The Sewerage System Development Project (SSDP) was aligned with the National Mid-Term Plan (RPJMN 2015-2019) that aimed to achieve universal access to safe water and sanitation by 2019. The overarching SSDP has three principal outputs; (1) Wastewater and sludge management capacity increased, (2) Service delivery system in place, and (3) Public awareness campaigns for hygiene promotion and Community-Led Total Sanitation Programs. This project was conducted in Banda Aceh, Bekasi, and Mataram in Indonesia and focused on Output 1.
Osana assisted in reviewing existing information to map, quantify, and determine the status and operational capability of current wastewater management assets to determine priority investments that shall be the focus of this SSDP. Once Osana had reviewed the existing information, we assisted in identifying and filling any gaps so as to facilitate the preparation of technical feasibility reports, confirming with all relevant stakeholders a mid-and long-term wastewater management strategy, and identifying where existing wastewater activities in each city may potentially benefit from operational improvement and/or the implementation of new or innovative technical solutions. Following this, Osana assisted in preparing wastewater management feasibility studies for Banda Aceh, Bekasi, and Mataram that involved conducting high-level urban resilience (climate and environmental) assessments and social assessments, developing detailed cost estimates for all feasibility study components, updating the wastewater management implementation plan, and procurement strategy for feasibility study investments.
